Transform your Teaching with Self-Grading Digital Assessments

Let’s Talk Transforming your Teaching with Self-Grading Digital Assessments

Teachers – don’t you often feel like there is no end to grading student work -whether papers, essays, quizzes, or even digital assessments in formats like Google slides or Seesaw??

What are Digital Assessments and Which Types are Self-Grading?

There is a solution – let me give you the rundown. Google Slides can provide assessment options (you would need to look at each student’s work to assess them), you can do digital exit tickets (either in Google slides or Google forms), or assessments with Google Forms, which could be self grading, or not!

Google  Slides and Digital Exit Tickets

Google slides are great for more open ended assessments, such as having students move letter tiles to spell words. Digital exit tickets can be a quick check with Google Forms or open ended in Google Slides, too.

Google Forms (self-grading!)

Here’s the secret – Google Forms is a terrific way to incorporate paperless seat work AND a great option for assessments and exit tickets . Google Forms can be multiple choice (usually) or can include some open response. BUT the biggest news is that Google forms can be self-grading and provide instant feedback and data for teachers.

Ready to use Examples

Here are two examples of self-grading digital assessments with Google Forms I used with my own students and have at my Teachers Pay Teachers Store.

Here’s a peek from the preview of my Digital 2nd Grade Back to School Starter Kit which includes Google forms with mixed practice:

You can also edit Google Forms after you make a copy! Check out this walkthrough of how to adjust Google Forms to meet your needs.

Check out all the math assessments available in the Digital Self-Grading Math Bundle:

Here’s a peek at one of the quizzes included – each topic has 2 quizzes so you can do a pre-test and post-test if you like!

And as a teacher you can see the results as soon as each student completes an assessment! You can see how many students are done, what the average score is, what the range is, and frequently missed questions! Great way to plan who needs some support or reteaching.

Google Forms also provide easy to read visual graphs for you, the teacher, to be able to assess the results.

And you can create Google sheets with the data all in one spreadsheet for analysis and / or sharing with your math or reading coach or principal, or a mentor teacher.

So why use self-grading Google Forms for your digital assessments? They can save you time, give you valuable insights, and help you make better teaching decisions.

Five Star Reviews

One of the happy teachers who grabbed it says, “Great resource and very easy to use with my students. Thank you for making things easier for me “.

Another says, “I have used these math assessments before and during the school closures. I love that they are self grading and that you included two versions of each quiz. When I first introduced these to my students during the first trimester, they were happy to learn that there was a second version and requested to take it to see if they could improve their scores – so cool! Great resource!”
