Kitty Cat Numeration – Adorable Theme for PreSchool Math Practice at Educents

Hey everyone! I am delighted today to be able to share with you my thoughts on Educents‘ Kitty Cat Numeration by Mrs. Richardson’s Class. This is one of 19 products included in their Preschool Rocks bundle which is only $19.99.

First off, keep in mind this is one of 19 products in a bundle so this is a small part of the Preschool Rocks Bundle. Kitty Cat Numeration is a 67 page pdf file meant for working with preschoolers and other young children on numeration. You can use it in school with small groups, as  teacher-directed activities, as independent work stations in math and it would be great for homeschoolers too.

Here is what Educents says about the product: “This is a set of 7 math work stations that reinforce numeration to 5, number combinations of 5, counting to 30, one-to-one correspondence, and ordering days of the week and months of the year”.

Here is a peek at the cover. Clicking on it will take you to see more info about the bundle at Educents. Usually by itself , Kitty Cat Numeration is $7.00.

It includes the following 7 activities:
Buttons and Shoes Match Up
Kitty Number Puzzles (black and white and color both included(
Kitty Number Combinations for 5
Kitty’s Calendar Creating
Counting Paws to 30
Kitty Can Order
Paw Print Comparisons
The product addresses quite a few kindergarten CCSS standards, too so it is easy to see how it could be beneficial to students from preschool to perhaps even first grade. Standards addressed are:
K.CC.A.1, K.OA.A.3, K.OA.A.1, K.CC.A.3, K.CC.B.4, K.CC.B.6
A few things I thought were great about the product:
  • The clip art and graphics were adorable and the cat theme would appeal to young children.
  • Some of the activities are available in black and white and color which is great for those who want to save some printer ink.
  • It covers a nice variety of topics.
  • It addresses basic addition concepts and introduces students to the + and = symbol along with how they relate to the words  and, is, and makes (ie. 3 and 2 makes 5 is the same as 3+2 =5).
  • From tutoring second graders in math, I know some still do not know the order of the months of the year of days of the week so it is a plus that that is included.
  • Kitty Cat Numeration addresses concepts of greater than/less than in a fun way.
  • Teacher instructions are included and are concise but clear.

There were only two things that could be possible downsides but they are pretty inconsequential overall- but I do know when I am spending my hard earned money on classroom stuff, I want to have all the info!
  • A student who is very literal could be slightly confused by the sneaker counting, since there are 2 sneakers per pair and a student might think, for example, that a picture of 2 pairs means 4 sneakers. This would easily be remedied by teacher assistance.
  • The cut and glue page for ordering the months of the year could be a bit visually confusing but teachers could easily modify this.
Here is a little peek at a collage of some of the different parts of the product.
Overall, I think this is a terrific product on its own and I would reccommend it. As part of a larger bundle, it seems like a terrific deal. Hop on over to Educents and take a look at what else is in the bundle by clicking here and decide for yourself.
Thanks for stopping by and have a restful evening!
