Sight words can be fun! Here are 5 ways for your students to practice.
Hands on Sight Word Practice
Magnetic Letters
Magnetic letters have been a classroom standby for a long time- but have you played the what’s missing game? Have students make the word with magnets and then you make the same word, but (out of sight) remove a letter (or two or three) and have students guess what’s missing from the word. It’s an engaging way for them to practice spelling the word.
This is what my What’s Missing? looks like (left) and another quick activity I did that you can try where I mix up the letters and say “You be the teacher. Did I spell it correctly?” (right)
Here are some magnetic letters that I like from Amazon:

Popsicle Stick Sight Words
These can be a fun option. Write trick words on popsicle sticks and kids draw them at random and practice reading them! Great to send home with students who need a little more practice.
Also, for more fun, write bang on one or several sticks and then when students draw “bang,” they put all their sticks back in the cup (I recommend opaque cups so students can’t try and avoid the “bang” stick!) .
Zingo!
Zingo is a super fun way for students to practice sight words. They will have so much fun they may even choose to use it during recess or free choice! Make sure to ask or look for the sight word version of Zingo . here’s one from Amazon but you can also get it from the Think Fun website and other places,

Gel Pens and Pads
Gel pens (like these from Wilson Language) provide pressure when students write words and help students learn the spelling!
