It’s coming! Reading center time! Or maybe you’re already in the middle of trying to run reading centers. Sure, you have all your curriculum resources and the routine! But do you have the 3 must-have resources for your reading centers?
4″x6″ PHOTO BOXES
These can store almost everything! I store all the cards from my reading and intervention resources, my phonemic awareness drill cards, and I used to use them for Journeys spelling and vocabulary cards, math cards and much more! You can shop around and even try the Dollar Store, but the picture below links to a fair price on Amazon!
MAGNETIC LETTERS
These are so fun to use at reading centers! You can have students use them to practice spelling sight words as I explain in this blog post. Students can practice phonemic awareness skills with them, spell spelling words, and much more!
FEEDBACK PHONES
If you haven’t tried Feedback Phones at your reading centers, your students may be missing out. They are get kids listening to themselves so that they can improve their fluency. So helpful! Also to be honest, it helps students read more quietly. No one wants to be too loud talking into feedback phones (trust me, I checked and talked into one myself!). Once you pull them out, they will be a hit!
Let me know if you try any of these! Keep scrolling for THREE bonus suggestions for resources to grab for your reading centers!
